Three SECHC Teams To Head To South Regionals

February 11, 2011 – Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida will be traveling to the South Regional with a chance for bid to Nationals after the final Rankings have been released. Georgia, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt also recieved votes in the final rankings, making six SECHC teams with votes, a conference record.

Alabama and Arkansas were tied in the third rankings, but the Frozen Tide stepped into the three spot alone, making them the top seed in the regionals, next weekend. No. 3 Alabama will face No. 10 UNC Wilmington in the first round.

The Razorbacks dropped two spots as Loyola (MD) jumped between the two SECHC-West schools. Arkansas was only two points out of third. No. 5 Arkansas will take on No. 8 Richmond in the first round.

The Florida Gators will also be in the Regional after jumping into the top 10 in the final rankings. The No. 9 Gators will have to face No. 4 Loyola (MD) in the first round.

Georgia, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt also recieved votes in the rankings. The No. 14 Bulldogs jumped into the rankings with a strong second semester performance. South Carolina also cracked into the top 15, after being left out despite recieving votes in all three previous rankings.

Vanderbilt had the oppositehappen in the final rankings, as the Commodores fell out of the final rankings top 15.

In total, six teams recieved votes and five teams made the top 15. Both are records for the SECHC.
