Quenneville Named Alabama Head Coach

August 13 ,2010 – Mike Quenneville has become the third Head Coach in the history of the Alabama hockey program. Quenneville replaces former Head Coach Jeff Cheeseman, who is taking a step back this season into a managerial role for the Frozen Tide.

Quenneville has spent the last two seasons as the Assistant Coach to Cheeseman for the Frozen Tide. He has also coached at the high school and youth level as well as serving as the Associate Coach In Chief for the Southern Amateur Hockey Association.

In his playing career, Quenneville was the captain and an All American for his junior college team, Canton ATC, which won the NJCAA Championship in 1987. Quenneville then completed his college career playing for Alabama-Huntsville (NCAA DI). While at UAH, he was selected for the World University Games in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Since his playing days, he became an assistant coach for UAH and has coached at Bob Jones High School for the past 5 seasons, where he coached the team to a Alabama State Championship.
