Florida vs. Georgia
Winner: Florida 4-3

With only :39 seconds left , the Florida Ice Gators ruined the Georgia Ice Dogs’ chances to advance to the SECHC Championship game. The 4-3 win for Florida advanced the Ice Gators to the SECHC Championship game on Saturday for the third straight season.

Michael Jugan put Florida up for good, scoring the game winning goal just five seconds after Georgia’s Cam Navis tied the game at three.

Florida’s Ryan Sehr recorded two goals in the game, scoring in the second and third periods, tying the game at two, before giving the Ice Gators the lead.

Scott Schilson scored in the first period for Florida, but Rich Fiorillo answered for Georgia, ending the first period with a tie at one.

Georgia’s Kyle Blankenship scored in the second period, giving the Ice Dogs a brief lead. Sehr then added his two goals to put Florida up.

The Ice Dogs kept the pressure on Florida and Navis’s late goal with 44 seconds left gave the Ice Dogs hopes for overtime.

Jugan’s game-winning goal came unassisted, vaulting Florida to the championship game.

Alabama vs. Vanderbilt
Winner: Alabama 4-2

Alabama has reached another accomplishment in the 2011-12 season, by advancing to the team’s first SECHC Championship game in program history with a 4-2 win over Vanderbilt in the semi-finals Friday night.

The Frozen Tide’s Matt Mayes opened the scoring just 1:34 into the game. But the Commodores fought back and answered with a goal from Jack McCallum five minutes later.

The game remained scoreless until the third period when Alabama’s Mark Wysock and Clay Link scored back-to-back goals to give the Frozen Tide a 3-2 lead late.

Vanderbilt made it a one-goal game when Kyle McCann scored with 2:35 left to make it 3-2. Jordan Ricks sealed the victory and championship game berth for Alabama, adding an empty-net goal with 20 seconds remaining.
