On The Ice At The SECHC Tournament Day 1

Alabama vs. South Carolina
Winner: Alabama 5-0

The Alabama Frozen Tide had its second career shutout over South Carolina this year in the SECHC Tournament. Senior John Bierchen also earned his second shutout with 33 saves. Senior Mark Wysock found the net first at 1:40 into the first period. Matt Mayes, Kenny Janssen and Tanner Himmelman scored for the Alabama in the second period. Matt Mayes got his second goal of the night in the third period with Zach Dailey earning his second assist on the goal.

Georgia vs. Ole Miss
Winner: Georgia 2-1

This hard fought game was one with all of the goals being power-play goals. Georgia’s Peter Kacer scored the first goal of the night in the second period from Cam Navis. Ole Miss followed that goal with a goal from Myles Flott. Georgia would take the final to 2-1 with a third period goal from Rick Fiorillo.

Vanderbilt vs. Auburn
Winner: Vanderbilt 7-3

Vanderbilt’s Brad Pesce earned a hat trick with a goal in the first period and two in the third period. Auburn’s Pete Leone earned Auburn’s first goal and tallied an assist. Vanderbilt’s Matt Kaminsky earned one goal and three assists during the game. Auburn was able to score their last goal of the night with 5:57 left in the game when Scott Thomasson found the net.

Florida vs. Tennessee
Winner: Florida 14-3

Florida was able to dominate Tennessee when Florida’s Matt Dutka and Captain Scott Schwartz both earned hat tricks. Florida’s Danny Hill also recorded two goals and two assists throughout the game. Tennessee’s Kyle Knell opened the scoring for the Volunteers with an unassisted goal and also earned an assist. Tennessee’s Ryan Prater earned two goals on Florida.
