Game 1-Tennessee vs. Arkansas Winner: Arkansas 15-1
Arkansas dominated the Tennessee Ice Vols on Saturday. The Arkansas Razorbacks scored four goals in the first period by Justin McDowell, Trent Ritchie, Toure and Johnny Stromp. The second period was much the same with Arkansas scoring six goals on Tennessee from Toure, McDowell, Womble, Sundstatt, Miller and Justin Gaddy. The third period didn’t go any smoother for the Ice Vols when Ritchie (2), Oliver, Kress and Derry found the net. Tennessee’s Marroni had the team’s only goal. Ritchie recorded a hat trick in the game.
Game 2- Auburn vs. Vanderbilt Winner: Auburn 9-8
This game was the closest game of the evening though it didn’t start off that way. South Carolina’s Foster and Swint scored the first two goals within 9 seconds of each other in the first period. Auburn’s Yiannis Kapetanopoulis scored first for the Tigers. Auburn’s Fisher scored the first of his three goals to earn a hat trick in the game in the first period. The first period ended with South Caroline leading 3-2. The second period started out like the first period with South Caroline getting the first goal,but that was about the end of the similiarities. Auburn battles back with three goals from Generotti (2) and Kestner. South Carolina’s Swint recorded to goals to end the second period 6-5. South Carolina took the lead 8-6 with around eight minutes remaining in the game. Auburn would not let them stay ahead for long when Max Coyle brought the game to 8-7 with around five minutes remaining. The Tigers tied the game with 29.1 seconds left on the clock. Right when the crowd believed the game would head into overtime, the Auburns Tiger’s Fisher earned his hat trick on a shot off of the faceoff with 1.9 seconds on the clock.
Game 3- Alabama vs. University of Central Florida Winner: Central Florida 5-4
This game was a nail bitter for the Pehlam, Ala. Crowd. The Frozen Tide took the early lead 4-0 in the first period with goals from Kenny Janssen, Cody Colbert and Brandon Butler. Matt Mayes opened the scoring in the second period. Unfortunately for the Frozen Tide, those would be the only goals in the game. Central Florida battled back with three power-play goals in the second period taking the score to 4-3. Central Florida recorded two more goals in the third period granting them the win.
Game 4- Florida vs. Vanderbilt Winner: Florida 5-3
Both teams earned a goal in the first period. Florida’s Jugan found the net first while Vanderbilt’s Zauderer followed near the end of the period. Florida’s Schilson recorded a hat trick with goals in the second and third periods. The third period was eventful when Florida went up 5-1, but Vanderbilt was not through battling back. Vanderbilt’s Pesce and Kaminsky recorded the last two goals in the game taking the final score to 5-3.
