Kacer Player of the Year, Bernstein Coach of the Year

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference announced Friday night that Peter Kacer, of the Georgia Ice Dogs, was named SECHC Player of the Year and Thomas Bernstein, of the Vanderbilt Commodores, was named SECHC Coach of the Year. The awards were announced at the SECHC Tournament between semi-final games.

Kacer, a sophomore, led the SECHC in the regular season in goals and points. Kacer set and SECHC record with 48 goals in the season, two more than Kevin Jones, who had 46 with Tennessee in the 2008-09 season. Kacer also had 79 points, third highest mark in the SECHC in a regular season.

Thomas Bernstein led the Commodores to a 18-6 mark during the regular season and a second place standing in the SECHC East Standings. Vanderbilt will play Georgia in the third-place game of the SECHC Tournament on Saturday after falling to No.3 Alabama, the top-overall seed of the tournament, 4-2 (Empty Net) on Friday night.
