Frozen Tide Drop First Game of Seth Shupan Memorial Tournament

The Frozen Tide lost their first game in the Seth Shupan Memorial Tournament 7-1 against Hope College on Thursday night.

Hope took the lead 2-0 by the end of the first period. They would heat up in the second taking the score to 6-0 by the second intermission.

Brandon Butler and the Frozen Tide would gain some ground when Butler scored for the team with an assist from Zach Dailey taking the score to 6-1 in the third, but Hope would close out the game with another goal taking the final to 7-1.

Senior John Bierchen was in net for the Frozen Tide. Hope led in shots 38-15.

Hope College finished second in the American Collegiate Hockey Association in 2010 and 2011.

The Frozen Tide will go on to face Northwood College on Friday. Northwood won their game against McKendree University 7-2 on Thursday.
