David Mosier III, Alabama Frozen Tide, 1992-2011

August 5, 2011 – The Alabama Frozen Tide suffered a deep loss to their hockey family Thursday, as one of their own, David Mosier, passed away at the age of 19.

Mosier was to be returning to Alabama this season as a a key sophomore contributor on the ice and in the classrooms. In 22 games last season, the Frozen Tide forward totaled 27 points on 10 goals and 17 assists. He did this while also maintaining his academics, earning Dean’s List honors.

“I am so sad to hear that the Frozen Tide Hockey Family has lost another outstanding student athlete,” said Commissioner Kenny Day.  “David was a class act who displayed extraordinary leadership skills as a freshman.”

“David was also a member of the 2010-11 all SECHC Tournament Team and a member of the Dean’s List at the University of Alabama.  On behalf of the entire SECHC and hockey fans throughout the nation, I send my heartfelt condolences to David’s parents, David and Mary Ellen, to his sisters Katie and Erin, to his Grandmother, Margaret Mosier, and to the entire wonderful Frozen Tide Family. We stand with you. May God rest his soul.”
