Commissioner’s Corner: SECHC Invited Back to ACHA All-Star Selects Challenge

The SECHC has been invited back to the ACHA All-Star Selects Challenge, which will take place March 28-30, in Philadelphia, Pa.

We are in the process of tabulating votes to determine our 2013-14 All SECHC team.  We will name the 1st, 2nd and 3rd team All-SECHC members Saturday night, Feb. 8, in Pelham, Ala., prior to the last semifinal game of the day.

During our awards-night celebration, we will also announce the 2013-14 SECHC MVP and our Coach of the Year.  Players elected to the All-SECHC team will be looked at closely for a potential spot on the SECHC Selects team.

The SECHC Selects represented the conference well during the 2012 ACHA All-Star Selects Challenge by winning three-out-of-five games, including a surprising upset win over one of the two Michigan All-Star teams.

We look forward to returning to Philadelphia for another exciting weekend of college hockey with some of the best ACHA players throughout the country.  We plan to announce the complete roster in late February.

The SECHC Selects coaching staff will also be announced soon. Returning to Philadelphia will be Georgia head coach John Hoos, who also serves as the SECHC East Division Coordinator, and commissioner Sarge Day.  We are currently talking to some SECHC head coaches to round out our coaching staff and look forward to announcing who will serve as the head coach for our team.

Our SECHC Playoffs next month will be exciting and the day one match-ups are shaping up to have an impact on the ACHA DIII final rankings.

As always, we will have a very special presentation Saturday, Feb. 8, during our awards night presentation. You don’t want to miss it!

As we finalize the match-ups, we will complete our brackets and immediately post on the SECHC website, Facebook and Twitter.

Best wishes to all and remember…”You Can’t Step Out of Bounds in Hockey!”
