Commissioner’s Corner: 2013-14 Season Underway

The 2013-14 season is underway and the thrill of ice hockey once again fills the air. Alabama takes on The US Army-Fort Benning club team Thursday night, Sept 26th and will also host Tulane on the 27th as they kick off their new season.  Alabama will face three tough teams from Michigan Oct 4-6 in Huntsville as they face off against Michigan (Flint), Davenport and Grand Valley State.  Auburn takes on Georgia and Georgia Tech this weekend while defending SECHC champion Arkansas travels to Illinois for two games against Peoria.  Arkansas began the season with two losses against ACHA D1 Oklahoma.  Arkansas represented themselves and the SECHC well in a 3-0 loss on September 21st to Oklahoma which finished as the #6 team in the ACHA D1 rankings last season!  Ole Miss has started strong with a 4-0 record with wins over Vanderbilt and Missouri State. Ole Miss travels to Cincinnati this weekend to take on Xavier, Oakland College and Indiana (Fort Wayne).

Mississippi State travels to Memphis for two games while Florida travels to Tennessee for both teams first action of the season. South Carolina, sporting a 2-2-0 record with wins over Vanderbilt and tough losses to Christopher Newport University faces an early season test by traveling to Orlando for two games against south region powerhouse Central Florida.
