The Alabama Frozen Tide swept their conference opponent, the Ole Miss Rebels, with a 5-2 victory on Saturday.
Alabama freshman Reed Finch opened the scoring for the Frozen Tide of Saturday at 2:21 into the first period.
The Frozen Tide scored two more goals by Zach Dailey and Jeff Pease to put them up 3-0 by the end of the first period.
The Ole Miss Rebels would switch their goalie from Josh Hukill to Alex Kohl at the beginning of the second, but it was not enough to stop the Frozen Tide.
Tanner Himmelman took the puck to the net at 2:44 into the second period.
Senior Mark Wysock would score the Frozen Tide’s last goal of the game unassisted.
The Ole Miss Rebels’ Cody Fullinwider scored two goals for the Ole Miss Rebels. The first of his goals was scored while the Rebels were shorthanded. The second goal was a power-play goal.
Ole Miss’ Angelo Rosena assisted on both of Fullinwider’s goals.
Friday night was a similar story for the two teams with a final of 6-1.
Alabama senior Sean Keeler opened the scoring fifteen minutes into the first period.
The Frozen Tide scored three goals in the second period by Matt Mayes, Kenny Janssen and Dailey.
Ole Miss’ Angelo Rosena would end Alabama goalie Sean Vinson’s hopes for a shutout in the third period with assists from Seth Palcic and Cody Johnson.
Vinson recorded 29 saves on Friday and 20 on Saturday.
Both teams will have some time off before returning to the ice in the New Year.
Ole Miss will play South Eastern conference opponent Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. on Jan. 20-21.
The Alabama Frozen Tide will return to the Pelham Civic Complex to face Florida State and Kennesaw State on Jan 6-7.
