Commissioner’s Look Back at SECHC All-Star Tournament

The South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference participated in the Division III All-Star Showcase at the end of March in Philadelphia, Penn. After a long process of scouting the athletes in the conference, All-Star head coach Steve Durrigan (West Division Coordinator), John Hoos (Georgia) and Mike Quenneville (Alabama) consulted and narrowed the team to 23 selections. (Durrigan, Hoos, Chris Dempers (Tennessee), and myself coached the team at the Showcase.)

I was very proud of the way our SECHC team represented their schools and the SECHC during the national all star showcase tournament in Philadelphia, PA.  To win three out of five games was very exciting for all of us and I appreciate having our team invited to participate.  I am very appreciative of the partnership we developed with the Southern Amateur Hockey Association (SAHA) and for their generous donation to our all star team.  We were proud to wear the SAHA logo on our SECHC all star jerseys.

Coach Hoos will also serve as an assistant coach for the ACHA D3 Selects team that will pool players from the Philadelphia showcase to field an ACHA D3 All star team. The team will travel to Europe during the winter break at the end of 2012/beginning of 2013.
